Takahashi Miike’s “Blade of the Immortal” just got a red band English trailer ahead of its November release, but if you’re squeamish, it may not be for you.
“Blade of the Immortal” is the 100th film from the “13 Assassins” director, and stars Takuya Kimura, Hana Sugisaki and Sota Fukushi.
It is a live-action adaptation of the same-titled manga by Hiroaki Samura. Set in feudal Japan, it tells the story of Manji, a deadly swordsman who is cursed with immortality until the day he’s killed enough evil men. One day, he’s approached by a young girl who asks him to help her take revenge on a band of murderers who killed her family.
The film premiered in April in Japanese theaters, and out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival in May. American audiences will be able to catch it Nov. 3.
