“Lucifer” is building anticipation for its fourth season with the announcement of a new angel. Vinessa Vidotto has landed a recurring role as Remiel in the fantasy drama, which was resurrected by Netflix after getting dropped by Fox in May.

Her casting comes as a twist, as the character is blond and male in the original source comics. According to Deadline, Remiel is the “‘classic little-sister’ character who admires her eldest brother, the mighty Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside), but also feels under-appreciated or overshadowed while struggling to match his towering standards.”

“Lucifer” follows Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), the Devil, who leaves Hell and heads to Los Angeles to get a better understanding of humanity. He ends up running a nightclub and becoming a consultant for the Los Angeles Police Department.

The series was revived after the hashtag #SaveLucifer trended, which prompted Warner Bros. Television to persuade streaming services and cable networks to pick up the show. Netflix eventually agreed to revive the series with a 10-episode order.

Vidotto graduated from the University of Arizona this year with a bachelor’s degree in acting. This is her first professional acting credit. She’ll join season four alongside Graham McTavish, who’ll play a holy man, and Inbar Lavi, who’ll play the biblical Eve.

The actress posted the news to her Instagram, sharing her gratitude for the support.
