The figure describes an expected rate of expansion, not a measured result, but it indicates the demand anticipated for infrastructure built around advanced computing.

Such facilities must support more than the processors associated with AI. They also need resilient storage, high-capacity connections and systems that can keep services available as use grows. This is why the infrastructure discussion extends beyond data centers to fiber networks, subsea cables and digital energy systems.

Cloud policy adds another layer. Public institutions are required to prioritize cloud-based solutions under the country’s Cloud First Policy, a requirement described in an overview of Saudi Arabia’s cloud and AI environment. Projections place the overall space economy at about $31.6 billion by 2035, with the direct market expected to reach around $5.6 billion. A 2035 outlook for Saudi Arabia’s space economy also cites compound annual growth of around 12% through that period.

The forecasts help explain why space activity is being discussed with cloud and AI infrastructure. Satellite communications, remote sensing and geospatial services can depend on the ability to transmit, store and process data. Their commercial development therefore intersects with terrestrial networks and computing capacity, even though each sector has its own operational requirements.

Space systems may extend connectivity and observation capabilities over large distances, while cloud platforms and data centers can provide the environment for handling the resulting information. This relationship does not mean that all projected growth will materialize, nor that investment automatically creates a particular economic outcome. It does show why the sectors are being planned together.

They should be read as forecasts, not as proof that Saudi Arabia has already achieved its longer-term objectives. What is already visible is the effort to build AI, data infrastructure and space activity as connected parts of a single economic and technological agenda.
